OnFebruary6,2012,DWwillexpanditsSpanishtelevisionprogramforLatinAmericafrom

twoto20hoursdaily.The24hourscheduleiscompletedwithfoursofGermanprogramming.

AccordingtoBettermann,thisisallpartofthereformprocessforGermany'sinternational

broadcaster.Thecoreofthisprocessisbeingabletobettercommunicatewiththetarge

taudiencethroughnew,focused,languagebasedchannels,regionalizedprogramming

andavarietyofmultimediacontentthatcanbeusedonline.

AfterreceivinganintroductiontotheexpandedSpanish-languageprogramattheWorldEconomicForuminDavosonJanuary26,MexicanPresident

FelipeCalderónsaid:"ItisgreattohaveapartnerlikeDeutscheWellebroadcastingfor20

hoursinSpanish.ItopensupnewopportunitiesinLatinAmerica.Theprogramwillbeabridge

toEurope,andGermanyinparticular."

DWhastailoreditsTVlineupsforotherregionsaswell.Thebasiswillbeanewchannelwith24

hoursofEnglishprogrammingandwillbroadcastinNorthAmerica,Africa,AsiaandAustralia.

Thatwillbeexpandedworldwidewithregionalchannelsfocusingonotherlanguages:

InNorthandLatinAmericaandAsia,thesecondchannelwillbemadeupof20hoursof

programminginGermanandfourhoursinEnglish.IntheArabworld,therewillbe

achannelfeaturing10hoursofArabicprogrammingand14hoursofEnglish;andinEurope,

DWwillbroadcast18hoursofEnglishandsixhoursofGermanduringprimetime.

DWwillalsomakeuseofmoreprogrammingfromtheGermanpublicbroadcastersARDand
